Alabama Basketball star, Brandon Miller is linked to a murder case against his teammate Darius Miles for killing a 23-year-old woman. The NBA prospect is expected to be at the Summer Draft and potentially a top 5 pick. However, he is making the headlines, after his involvement with the murder case, as providing the gun to Miles. The incident happened in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, last month.
Detective Dranden Culpepper has testified against Miller, for bringing in Miles’ gun at the scene of the shooting. Before 23-year-old Jamea Jonae Harris met with her fateful demise, Miles texted Miller to bring him the gun. However, Miles and Michael Jynn Davis are facing capital murder charges for the death of Harris. The incident took place near the University of Alabama’s campus. Since the incident, Miles has been removed from the Crimson Tide program, after his gun was used in the incident.
Miller, Miles, and Davis went to the Twelwe25 Sports Bar on the night of the incident. However, Miller didn’t stay as the line was too long, hence he dropped off Miles and Davis. Miles and Davis encountered Harris, her boyfriend Cedric Johnson, and her cousin Asia Humphrey. They got into a verbal exchange and Miles and Davis went to the car and brought a gun from Miller’s car.

Crimson Tide basketball coach Nate Oats is aware of Miller’s link to the murder, “Can’t control everything anybody does outside of practice. Nobody knew that was going to happen. … Brandon hasn’t been in any type of trouble, nor is he in any type of trouble in this case. Wrong spot at the wrong time.” Said Oats.

Brandon Miller has not to been charged with anything. Culpepper said, that Miles was the one who told Davis about the gun. However, when Miller arrived at the scene of the shooting and texted Miles. Miller informed Miles about the gun being in the hat and with a round in the chamber. The defense Lawyers have stated the reason for handing in the gun. “The reason that the gun was provided to Michael Davis was for protection,” argued Mary Turner on behalf of Davis and Miles’ defense.
