It would not be wrong to say that Vince McMahon’s tug of war with a lawsuit is not something new. Last year, in July, the 77-year-old man had to retire after the secret money scandal exposed by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). In fact, when he recently returned, a WWE shareholder dragged him to court for misusing his voting power. Recently, some big news has come to light about the decades-long demand for him.

Former WWE referee Rita Chatterton accused Vince McMahon of raping her in the back of a limousine in 1986. However, she denied the allegations, and the case was dropped in 1993. Ultimately, the lawsuit came to an end. However, WSJ reports that the deal has been done in the millions.

Vince McMahon Lawsuit Settles With Rita Chatterton Receiving Millions In Compensation

New York law recently gave victims of sex crimes a one-year window to file old lawsuits. Cases that were previously dropped due to the statute of limitations have been reopened.

Rita Chatterton also got another chance to tell her side of the story. More importantly, she brought Vince McMahon’s lawsuit back to light. Last year, in November, the former WWE referee asked Mr. McMahon for compensation of $11.75 million. Finally, the decades-long case has come to an end.

The WSJ recently reported that Vince McMahon’s lawsuit was settled with a multi-million dollar legal settlement. Although the 77-year-old has denied all the allegations, he agreed to pay Rita Chatterton. As for the amount of compensation, it has been kept secret. But Vince will pay an initial amount and then pay in installments. According to the report, Vince McMahon’s lawsuit was settled last month.

Jerry McDevitt, Vince McMahon’s attorney, also made a big statement about the entire lawsuit. He claimed the 77-year-old agreed to pay only to avoid the cost of litigation. McDevitt said:

“Mr. McMahon denies and always has denied that he raped Ms. [Rita] Chatterton. And he settled the case solely to avoid the cost of litigation.”

Well, it looks like the Disputes and Lawsuits will always be tied up with the WWE CEO as long as he’s in business. And looking at the current situation in WWE, who knows how many more lawsuits will be filed against him in the future.

The 77-year-old could be selling his multi-million dollar company in the next three to six months.

When Vince McMahon retired and Triple H and Stephanie took over last year, everyone thought WWE was finally in good hands. In fact, the new regime delivered by breaking many pay-per-view records in 2022. However, the good times didn’t last long for anyone who was happy with the way things were going.

In less than six months, Mr. McMahon returned to the WWE Board of Directors. This time, his goal is to oversee the upcoming media rights deal and sell the company. Vince has, in fact, hired a consultant and will reportedly be selling WWE in the next three to six months.

All things aside though, it’s nice to see Rita Chatterton finally getting some sort of justice. As far as the WWE sale goes, names and rumors come up every day, but nothing has happened so far.
