Welcome to our extensive preview of sci-fi movies that Netflix is ​​scheduled to release in 2023 or is in development or production for 2024 or beyond.

It seems like forever since then They Cloned Tyrone was announced, and indeed, the project was filmed in late 2020, so it’s been a long time.

According to the film’s official description, a “series of mysterious events” is what throws an unlikely trio into a nefarious government conspiracy. Plus, all bets are off on what shenanigans we’ll see our protagonists get into.

Coming to Netflix: December 23, 2023

Zack Snyder notably made the big leap to Netflix after his years in the DC universe at Warner Bros. army of the dead. His next project, set on a distant planet on the brink of war, is a sci-fi epic that Netflix has saved for Christmas.

A second film, labeled Part 2, will also shoot throughout 2023 and will likely be released in 2024.

Based on the book Spaceman of Bohemia, this sci-fi movie has the potential to turn many heads, due to the highly unusual source material the story is based on.

Netflix regular Sandler will play Jakub, who becomes his country’s first astronaut, but after being trapped in space, he meets a sentient spider.

The Mothership

Originally announced to be released in 2022, The Mothership, starring Halle Berry, has finally been pushed back, but an exact release date has yet to be confirmed.

The sci-fi family drama film is about a woman who comes to terms with the mysterious disappearance of her husband from their rural farm and discovers strange extraterrestrial objects under their house.

Code 8: Part II

Fused: Stephen Amell, Robbie Amell, Alex Mallari Jr. and Natalie Liconti

Expected to be released in 2023 but not confirmed

This sci-fi sequel was filmed in 2022 and also had a small preview showing, meaning the movie should not be too far away.

The first film was theatrically released by XYZ Films, but exploded in popularity after its global licensing to Netflix, leading to a commissioned sequel.

Here’s what you can expect from the second entry:

“Follows a girl struggling to get justice for her brother killed by corrupt cops. Enlisting the help of an ex-convict and his ex-partner, they face a highly regarded and well-protected police sergeant who doesn’t want to be.”

As part of a multi-film with Netflix, Jennifer Lopez will star in and produce this new sci-fi film set in the distant future, where an AI soldier has determined that humanity will end if war comes to an end.

The film was filmed for two months in the last few months of 2022 in Los Angeles and New Zealand.

BioShock

Director: Francis Lawrence

Based on the legendary video game franchise, Netflix is ​​producing and releasing a film adaptation that will be directed by the same director of I’m the Legend and one of Hunger Games films.

The game franchise is about a man who travels to the depths of the ocean to find a seemingly abandoned civilization.

The Electric State

Millie Bobby Brown will headline the massive cast and play an orphaned teenager tasked with navigating a post-apocalyptic world with a robot to find her younger brother.

The kitchen

This 59% British production is set in London in 2040. In this future, our story takes place in a slum-like skyscraper known as The Kitchen, designed for the lower classes during rising house prices, computerized work and the eradication of the Welfare State.

Based on the novel by Scott Westerfeld, this sci-fi drama is set in a post-scarcity dystopian world where everyone is considered ugly and must undergo extreme cosmetic surgery when they reach the age of 16.

The film was filmed in the second half of 2021 after being initially announced in 2020.

The division

Director: Rawson Marshall Thurber
Fused: Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal

Based on the Tom Clancy novel (and Ubisoft video game), The divisionn has been in the works with the two main stars announced for the project several years ago, but sadly, we haven’t had any word on how far along the film is.

The film’s premise is that it is set just as a pandemic spread via paper money and led to New York City being shut down to try and stop the spread.
