It provoked the UFC star, who appeared to try and slap the man holding it
A fan wrote the message on a sign and showed it to Poirier while on a parade
‘Your wife is in my DMs', Conor McGregor told Dustin Poirier after breaking leg
Dustin Poirier attempted to slap a fan and had to be restrained after he was confronted by a sign from a heckler reading: 'Your wife is in my DMs.'
The UFC star was provoked by Conor McGregor, who uttered the line after he'd suffered a broken leg against the American back in July of 2021.
The personal attack was dealt with with calm and control at the time but Poirier was moved into action when a fan mocked him with the Irishman's words.
In a video widely circulated online, a man shows the camera the sign he has prepared before going up to Poirier's Jeep during a Mardi Gras parade in Louisiana.
Poirier reads the sign and then gestures for the man to come forward, appearing to the swing an arm to slap him.

The car moves forwards again before Poirier attempts to get down and is restrained by his wife from escalating the situation further.
McGregor's line was seen at the time as being below the belt after a largely amicable build-up to their third fight two years ago.
But with is leg broken and Joe Rogan crouched on the canvas to interview him, the 'Notorious' opted to go on the offensive.
He said: 'I was boxing the bleeding head off him, kicking the bleeding legs off him, the usual s***e, tried to go the distance.
‘This is not over, if I have to take this outside it’s all outside, I don’t give a b*****s.
‘Your wife is in my DMs, I’ll chat to you later on.
‘Hit me back up I’ll chat to you later on, I’ll be at the after party at the Wynn night club.'
Poirier later reflected: 'If it was real and my wife was messaging him or something like that then it's a good move.
McGregor personally attacked Poirier after breaking his leg against him in 2021
'But if it's fabricated or... so you know, me and my wife were laughing about it when I was at the grocery store.
'But it's just...there's no holds barred in the (expletive)-talking, so.'
'Diamond' is regarded as a hero in Louisiana and the crowds turned out to see him during the Mardi Gras parade.
It remains to be seen whether there will be a fourth fight with McGregor but there is certainly enough history between the pair to justify it, particularly if the Dubliner wins his comeback fight later this year against Michael Chandler.
